College of Marin will be hosting our 2023 Fall Conference.  Join us for a couple of days of collaborative engagement with colleagues, CE training, and to gain skills and knowledge from our speakers. Stay for the weekend to enjoy wine country, Marin County attractions, and neighboring San Francisco/Bay Area.

Daniel O. Taube, JD/Ph.D. 
Law & Ethics (2 CEs) 

​Participants will be able to:
  • List two dimensions of FERPA that increase vulnerability of Community College student counseling and psychological services records, and two strategies for increasing protection.
  • Identify two techniques for reducing the potentially negative impact of Open Notes on clients.
  • Summarize two developments California child abuse reporting standards and duty to protect.
  • Describe two recent changes in telemental health rules.
  • Define two areas of increased boundary challenges in the digital world on and off University campuses and three steps to manage those challenges.

Dr. Daniel O. Taube earned his JD/PhD from Villanova University and Hahnemann University (1985 and 1987, respectively), as a member of the Joint Psychology and Law Graduate Program. He is Professor Emeritus at the California School of Professional Psychology, Alliant International University, San Francisco, is currently a member of The American Insurance Trust’s Risk Management team, and regularly consults across the country with a wide range of practitioners and community agencies regarding standards of practice and ethical concerns. His areas of professional focus include ethical and legal issues in professional practice, child protection and addictions.  



Jude Bergkamp, Psy.D. 
Untangling our Colonial Roots: Tracking Colonial Influences in                            Contemporary Clinical Practice (3 CEs) 

​Participants will be able to:
  • Define and differentiate the terms colonialization, colonization, and colonial  
    mindset.
  • Define social privilege and dysconsciousness.
  • Apply a developmental model of social privilege awareness to individual social
    location.​

Dr. Jude Bergkamp is the program chair of the clinical psychology program at Antioch University Seattle, as well as clinical faculty in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Washington. He is the President-Elect of the National Council of Schools and Programs of Professional Psychology (NCSPP). In addition, he serves on the APA’s BEA/BPA Task Force on Doctoral Competencies in Health Service Psychology. He was trained in forensic and neuropsychology and has worked in the Washington State Department of Corrections, and currently as a forensic evaluator at the Center for Forensic Services at Western State Hospital. His current research interests include the decolonization of psychology, the exploration of social privilege as the flip side of oppression, and the role social privilege plays in psychotherapy.  


Markias Kaiyan Littlehohn, LCSW, LISW-CP, CST, QDDP
Qualitative History of Sexuality and Its Interconnectedness & Effects on Mental Health and the Psyche (1 CE) 

​Participants will be able to:
  • Identify some ways sexuality was participated in during antiquity.
  • Identify some ways sexuality was distorted by evolving society norms.
  • Identify some ways to assess and promote healthy sexuality, in current therapeutic practice, and community; through integrative intervention to extinguish intergenerational dysfunctional sexual identity & perception.

Markias Kaiyan is an internationally recognized Licensed Mental Health & Sex Therapist, Clinical Sexologist, Integrative Clinical Consultant, and Integrative Practitioner who has specialized in Improving Male Sexual Health since 2013.  Markias holds membership and advisor positions in The Royal Society of Medicine UK, NCAL, The American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselor, and Therapist (AASECT), and The NCAL Health Consortium.
 
Markias consultants for healthcare systems and agencies to create innovative and effective clinical pathways to ensure complex vulnerable populations receive high quality access to care.  Markias Kaiyan has proven success in providing effective interventions to high profile men in the US and UK; by employing innovative and discreet interventions empowering men to command the sexuality they desire and deserve.  This is achieved through skills acquisition and clinical pathways to tap into their Primal Sexual Energy and Prana.

Markias Kaiyan has been featured in The Huffington Post as “One of 15 Male Therapist You Should Know” and is a guest lecturer Sex Expert for a Medical School.  Markias Kaiyan was recently featured and referenced in the Medical School’s textbook.


Rick Williamson, Ph.D.
Post-Pandemic Stress: Charting a Path to Psychological Resilience for Students, Staff, and Faculty. (3 CEs) 
​Participants will be able to:
  • Identify some of the deleterious effects of working in acute stress contexts as it pertains to clinicians and staff.
  • Identify factors that contribute to vicarious traumatization.
  • Identify some ways to address and help transform the psychological hazards of the post-pandemic context.

Rick Williamson is a clinical psychologist and consultant with The Emmada Institute of Behavioral Health & Wellness – an organization dedicated to serving the mental health needs of hard-to-reach, vulnerable communities. For over a decade he has worked with individuals and organizations in some of the world’s most challenging places. These locations include: Egypt, Lebanon, Kenya, South Africa, Thailand, The Philippines, Honduras, and Haiti. He brings  the lessons he learns about how persons and communities can overcome adversity and even thrive in the face of calamity and the forces that tear at the wellbeing and mental health of community. Additionally, Dr. Williamson is also a board member of the California Psychological Association and is Past-Chair of its Training & Education Division. He is a member of the American Psychological Association’s 2023 Presidential Task Force on Culturally Informed Trauma & Grief Recovery. He completed his BA in psychology at Princeton University, his MA and PhD at Fuller’s Graduate School of Psychology, and an APA Post-Doctoral Program in Cross-Cultural Research at UCLA. He is a life-long student of the martial arts and most enjoys traveling with his wife and daughter.

*MHWA is a CE provider approved by the California Psychological Association to provide continuing professional education for psychologists. The Board of Behavioral Sciences recognizes CE credit from CPA approved providers for LCSWs, MFTs, LEPs, and LPCCs. MHWA’s CE programs meet the California Board of Nursing’s requirements for acceptable continuing education for BRN licensees. MHWA maintains responsibility for this program and its content.

After registering, if you cannot attend the meeting, notify Dr. Alison Johnson for a refund (prior to 10/13/2023 or credit for a subsequent conference).

Attendance policy
Those who attend full conference and complete the evaluation form will receive CE credits. Those arriving more than 15 minutes after the start time or leaving before the training is completed will not receive CE credits.
